From a young age I have been drawn to reproduction and birth. I remember learning about the basics of reproduction and being engrossed by what I saw as the magic of a new being. These interests stuck with me into adulthood where I found myself working on a BA in Indigenous studies with a focus on accessibility to healthcare in remote communities. Through my studies I realized that the policy related career I had once be working towards no longer appealed to me and I was more interested in being involved in healthcare on the ground level. That epiphany lead me to my career as a Doula where I could both work around birth and help people access the care they desire. I also have a strong background in wilderness adventure, specifically canoe tripping. I learned a lot in my years as a guide that I find serve me as a doula. For example, my ability to stay calm in the face of chaos really comes in handy in the birthing environment. I feel that it is through passion and skill I can best serve those in my community.
